Transfer bonuses are one of the best ways to stretch your points further — getting 20%, 30%, or even 50% more miles when you move points from your credit card to an airline or hotel partner.
This month brings several solid opportunities, headlined by a massive 50% bonus from Rove to Japan Airlines. Here’s everything currently active and whether each bonus is actually worth using.

| Capital One | I Prefer Hotels | 30% | March 31 | ⚠️ Niche |
| Amex MR | Avianca LifeMiles | 15% | March 28 | ✅ Situational |
Let’s break down each one.
The Standout: Rove → Japan Airlines (50% Bonus)
This is the headline deal of March. Rove Miles is offering a 50% transfer bonus to Japan Airlines Mileage Bank through March 31.
What this means:
- Transfer 10,000 Rove Miles → receive 15,000 JAL miles
- Transfer 50,000 Rove Miles → receive 75,000 JAL miles
Why it’s valuable:
Japan Airlines has some excellent award sweet spots (see our full guide to flying to Japan with points):
- Japan domestic flights: Just 6,000 miles one-way
- US to Japan (economy): 35,000 miles one-way (vs 60k+ on most programs)
- US to Japan (business): 60,000 miles one-way (check out our Japan business class sweet spots guide)
- Partner awards on American Airlines: Often better rates than AAdvantage
With the 50% bonus, you’re effectively getting JAL miles at 0.67 Rove miles per JAL mile — exceptional value.
Who should use this:
- Anyone planning Japan travel in 2026
- Travelers who want access to JAL’s excellent business class
- People booking American Airlines awards (JAL is a partner)
The catch: Rove Miles aren’t as widely held as Chase or Amex points. If you have them, this is the time to use them.
Chase → Avios Programs (20% Bonus)
Chase is offering 20% bonuses to all three Avios-earning programs:
- British Airways Executive Club
- Aer Lingus AerClub
- Iberia Plus
All three use Avios currency, which can be pooled between programs. Through March 31, 10,000 Chase points = 12,000 Avios. For a deeper dive, see our complete Avios guide.
Best uses for Avios:
-
Short-haul flights: Avios shine on shorter routes. Off-peak domestic American Airlines flights can be just 6,000-7,500 Avios one-way.
-
Europe positioning flights: Cheap intra-Europe hops on BA, Iberia, or Aer Lingus.
-
Partner awards: Book flights on American Airlines, Alaska, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and other Oneworld carriers.
Sweet spots with this bonus:
- NYC to Dublin on Aer Lingus: ~13,000 Avios off-peak (would normally cost ~16,250 Chase points, now costs 10,833)
- LA to Hawaii on American: ~13,000 Avios one-way
Should you transfer?
Only if you have a specific redemption in mind. Avios values fluctuate, and availability on partner airlines can be limited. Never transfer speculatively.
Chase/Citi → Wyndham (25-30% Bonus)
Both Chase and Citi are running Wyndham bonuses:
- Chase: 30% bonus through March 31
- Citi: 25% bonus through March 21
The math problem:
Here’s why these are hard to recommend (see our Chase points redemption guide for more context):
- Chase points are worth ~2.0 cents per point
- Wyndham points are worth ~1.1 cents per point
- Even with a 30% bonus, you’re getting poor value
When it makes sense:
- You need to top off a Wyndham redemption
- You’ve found a Wyndham property with exceptional award pricing
- You don’t value Chase points for travel transfers
For most people, keeping your Chase points as Chase points (or transferring to airlines) will deliver better value.
Capital One → I Prefer Hotels (30% Bonus)
Capital One is offering 30% bonus when transferring to Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ I Prefer program through March 31.
What is I Prefer?
It’s a collection of independent luxury and boutique hotels — think unique properties rather than cookie-cutter chains. Transfer ratio is normally 1,000 miles = 2,000 points, but with the bonus it’s 1,000 = 2,600.
Worth it?
Only if you’ve found a specific I Prefer property you want to book. The program isn’t widely used, but some properties offer solid redemption values. Do the math on your specific hotel before transferring.
Amex → LifeMiles (15% Bonus)
American Express is offering a 15% transfer bonus to Avianca LifeMiles through March 28.
Why LifeMiles is interesting:
LifeMiles is a Star Alliance program with some unique advantages:
- Mixed-cabin bookings: Combine economy and business on the same itinerary
- No fuel surcharges: On most partner awards
- Solid Star Alliance access: United, Lufthansa, ANA, Singapore, etc.
Sweet spots:
- Europe in business class: 63,000 miles one-way (vs 70k+ on other programs)
- South America: Strong availability on Avianca metal
- Transatlantic on Lufthansa or Swiss
With the 15% bonus:
- 60,000 Amex points → 69,000 LifeMiles
This brings the effective cost of a business class award to Europe down to ~52,000 Amex points — solid value.
Transfer Bonus Golden Rules
Before you jump on any bonus, remember these principles:
1. Only Transfer With a Redemption in Mind
Points sitting in an airline program are less flexible than points in your credit card account. Award availability changes, programs devalue, and you can’t get your points back once transferred.
2. Do the Math
A 30% bonus to a program you don’t value isn’t actually a bonus. Calculate your effective cents per point for the specific redemption you’re planning.
3. Check Award Availability First
Log into the partner program and confirm space exists for your dates before transferring. Nothing worse than transferring 100,000 points and finding zero availability.
4. Consider Transfer Times
Most transfers are instant, but some can take 24-48 hours. Don’t cut it too close if award space might disappear.
5. Watch the Expiration Date
These bonuses end on specific dates. If you’re planning to use one, don’t wait until the last day — give yourself a buffer.
My Recommendations This Month
Jump on:
- Rove → JAL (50%) if you’re planning Japan travel. This is exceptional.
- Amex → LifeMiles (15%) if you need Star Alliance business class to Europe.
Consider:
- Chase → Avios (20%) if you have a specific short-haul or partner award in mind.
Skip (probably):
- Wyndham bonuses — the math rarely works out.
- I Prefer bonus — too niche for most travelers.
What’s Not Running (But Watch For)
Some historically common bonuses we’re not seeing this month:
- Amex → Hilton bonuses (often 30-40%)
- Chase → United bonuses
- Any bonuses to Delta SkyMiles
These tend to pop up a few times per year, so keep your eyes open.
Bottom Line
March 2026 has a clear winner: the 50% Rove → Japan Airlines bonus is exceptional if you have Rove Miles and any interest in flying to/within Japan or on Oneworld partners.
The Avios and LifeMiles bonuses are solid for the right redemptions, while the hotel bonuses are niche plays at best.
As always, the best transfer is one that gets you a flight or hotel you actually want — not one that chases a percentage bonus for its own sake.
I’ll update this post if any new bonuses drop mid-month. Happy transferring!
