Singapore Airlines Suites: How to Book the World's Best First Class With Points

There’s regular first class. Then there’s Singapore Airlines Suites.

If you’ve ever seen photos of a private bedroom at 40,000 feet — complete with a separate chair, a real bed, and a door that closes — you’ve probably seen Singapore Suites. It’s consistently ranked as the world’s best first class product, and for good reason.

The best part? You can book it with points you might already have sitting in your credit card account.

Here’s exactly how to make it happen.

What Makes Singapore Suites Different

Before we dive into booking strategies, let’s clarify something that confuses a lot of people: Singapore Airlines has two different first class products.

Singapore Suites (A380):

  • Only available on Airbus A380 aircraft
  • Just 6 suites per plane in a 1-1 configuration
  • Each suite has a door for complete privacy
  • Separate bed and chair — not a seat that converts
  • Some seats can combine into a double bed for couples

Singapore First Class (777):

  • Available on Boeing 777 aircraft
  • 4 seats per plane in a 1-2-1 configuration
  • Traditional lie-flat first class seat
  • Excellent but not in the same league as Suites

When people talk about Singapore’s legendary first class, they usually mean Suites on the A380. That’s what we’re focusing on here, though the booking process and pricing are identical for both products.

The Catch: You Must Book Through KrisFlyer

Here’s where Singapore differs from most airlines: you cannot book Suites or First Class using partner airline miles.

Even though Singapore is a Star Alliance member, you won’t find Suites availability searching through:

  • United MileagePlus
  • Air Canada Aeroplan
  • ANA Mileage Club
  • Or any other Star Alliance program

Singapore restricts its premium cabin awards to its own KrisFlyer program. This means you need KrisFlyer miles specifically.

But don’t panic — KrisFlyer miles are actually easy to get.

How to Get KrisFlyer Miles

KrisFlyer is a transfer partner of all the major credit card points programs:

ProgramTransfer RatioTransfer Time
Chase Ultimate Rewards1:1Instant
Amex Membership Rewards1:11-2 days
Capital One Miles1:11-2 days
Citi ThankYou Points1:112-24 hours
Bilt Rewards1:1Instant

All transfers happen at a 1:1 ratio, which is excellent. If you have 100,000 Chase points, that becomes 100,000 KrisFlyer miles. (New to transfer partners? Check out our complete guide to how transfer partners work.)

Pro tip: Chase and Bilt transfer instantly to KrisFlyer. If you find availability and need to book fast, transfer from those programs first.

Singapore Suites Award Pricing

KrisFlyer uses a zone-based award chart with three pricing tiers:

Saver Awards (Cheapest)

These are the rates you want to target:

RouteOne-Way in Suites
Singapore → Bangkok/Kuala Lumpur37,500 miles
Singapore → Hong Kong50,000 miles
Singapore → Mumbai/Delhi62,500 miles
Singapore → Tokyo68,750 miles
Singapore → Sydney93,500 miles
Singapore → London/Frankfurt105,000 miles
Singapore → New York (via Frankfurt)143,750 miles

Advantage Awards (40-60% More)

When Saver isn’t available, Advantage awards often are — at a premium:

RouteOne-Way in Suites
Singapore → Sydney~140,000 miles
Singapore → London~157,000 miles
Singapore → New York~215,000 miles

Is Advantage worth it? For Singapore Suites specifically, I’d argue yes. It’s still a bargain compared to the $15,000+ cash price, and Suites is genuinely a bucket-list experience.

Access Awards (Skip These)

There’s a third tier called Access awards with better availability but astronomical pricing. At that point, you’re barely getting any value from your miles. Avoid.

Current Singapore Suites Routes (2026)

Singapore only operates A380s with Suites on specific routes. Here’s where you can fly them:

From Singapore:

  • London Heathrow (LHR) — Daily
  • Frankfurt (FRA) — Daily
  • Sydney (SYD) — Daily
  • Melbourne (MEL) — Select days
  • Hong Kong (HKG) — Daily
  • Mumbai (BOM) — Daily
  • Delhi (DEL) — Select days
  • Auckland (AKL) — Seasonal (mid-January through late March)

Fifth Freedom Routes:

  • Frankfurt (FRA) → New York JFK — Daily

That Frankfurt to New York route is a hidden gem. It’s Singapore’s only Suites route touching U.S. soil, and it operates as a “fifth freedom” flight (Singapore has rights to fly between Germany and the U.S. as a stopover on its Singapore-Frankfurt route).

Finding Award Availability: The Real Challenge

Here’s the honest truth: Singapore Suites availability is hard to find.

Why? Simple math. There are only 6 Suites per plane. When cash tickets for Suites cost $10,000-$20,000 one-way, Singapore isn’t in a hurry to give them away for miles.

But availability does exist. Here’s how to maximize your chances:

1. Search Directly on Singapore’s Website

Log into your KrisFlyer account and search for award flights from the homepage. You’ll see three columns for each flight:

  • Saver — Cheapest, often shows “Waitlist”
  • Advantage — More expensive, better availability
  • Access — Most expensive, usually available

2. Be Flexible on Dates

If you’re locked into specific dates, you’ll struggle. The people who book Suites are almost always flexible within a 2-3 week window.

3. Target Short and Medium Haul Routes

Routes like Singapore → Mumbai or Singapore → Hong Kong have better availability than Singapore → London. Why? Business demand is lower on regional routes, so more seats go unsold.

4. Check Within 2 Weeks of Departure

Singapore occasionally releases additional award seats close to departure when flights aren’t full. This requires flexibility but can work.

5. Consider Waitlisting (With Caveats)

KrisFlyer lets you waitlist Saver awards that aren’t immediately available. However:

  • It’s not guaranteed to clear
  • You need to already have the miles in your account
  • Waitlists typically clear (or not) 2-3 weeks before departure

I don’t recommend building a trip around a waitlisted flight, but if you have flexibility and the miles sitting there, it’s worth trying.

6. Book Advantage When Saver Isn’t Available

If you’ve dreamed of flying Singapore Suites and finally found availability, don’t be too cheap about it. The difference between 93,500 miles (Saver) and 140,000 miles (Advantage) for Singapore to Sydney might seem steep, but you’re still paying ~1.5 cents per mile for a $15,000 experience.

Taxes and Fees

Singapore Airlines charges fuel surcharges on award tickets, which adds up quickly:

  • Short haul (within Asia): $50-$100
  • Medium haul (to Australia): $150-$300
  • Long haul (to Europe/US): $400-$700

Not ideal, but still a fraction of the cash price. Budget for it.

The Double Bed Trick

One unique feature of Singapore Suites: certain seat pairs can combine into a double bed. If you’re traveling with a partner and both score Suites seats, you can turn your two suites into one shared space with a double bed.

The convertible seats are:

  • 1A and 2A (left side, window)
  • 1F and 2F (right side, window)

If you’re booking two seats, try to grab one of these pairs.

Here’s my step-by-step approach for actually booking Singapore Suites:

  1. Accumulate 100,000+ transferable points — You’ll need at least this much for most routes. Chase and Amex are the best sources. (See our guide on the best credit cards for earning points.)

  2. Create a KrisFlyer account — Free to join, and you need it to search award space. (New to award booking? Start with our step-by-step award flights guide.)

  3. Search for availability first — Don’t transfer points until you find a flight that works.

  4. Be flexible — Pick a 2-3 week window rather than specific dates.

  5. Consider creative routing — The Frankfurt → New York segment might have better availability than Singapore → London. Build a trip around what’s actually bookable.

  6. Transfer and book quickly — Once you find availability, transfer points (Chase is instant) and complete the booking. Suites seats don’t sit unclaimed for long.

  7. Set fare alerts — Tools like ExpertFlyer can monitor KrisFlyer availability and alert you when Suites space opens up.

Is Singapore Suites Worth It?

Absolutely — with one caveat.

If you’re the type of person who sleeps through flights regardless of the cabin, Singapore Suites might be wasted on you. But if you appreciate exceptional service, want to experience something truly special, and have been accumulating points without a clear goal, this is the redemption to target.

The A380 Suites product is genuinely world-class. The food rivals high-end restaurants. The service is legendary (Singapore is famous for their cabin crew training). And having a private suite with a door and a real bed? It makes even a 15-hour flight something to look forward to.

For 93,500-150,000 miles one-way, you’re getting access to an experience that costs $15,000+ in cash. That’s an incredible value.

Key Takeaways

  • Singapore Suites is only bookable through KrisFlyer — partner programs can’t access this inventory
  • Transfer partners: Chase, Amex, Capital One, Citi, Bilt (all 1:1)
  • Best availability: Short/medium haul routes, flexible dates, or close to departure
  • Plan ahead: Accumulate points now so you’re ready when availability pops up
  • Don’t be too cheap: Advantage awards are still excellent value for Suites

Singapore Suites isn’t the easiest redemption, but it might be the most rewarding. Start stockpiling those transferable points — when availability appears, you’ll want to be ready.
