United just opened bookings for its most premium product ever: the Polaris Studio suite. The first flights depart in April, and you can book them with miles right now.
This is United’s answer to competitors like Qatar QSuites and Singapore Suites — and it’s finally here. For everything you need to know about the entire Polaris experience, check out our complete United Polaris Business Class guide.
First Polaris Studio Routes
The brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with United’s “Elevated” interior debuts on two routes:
| Route | Flight | First Date |
|---|---|---|
| San Francisco → Singapore | UA 1 | April 22, 2026 |
| San Francisco → London Heathrow | UA 901 | April 30, 2026 |
Both routes are now bookable for cash or miles through United.com.
What Makes Polaris Studio Special
The Studio suites occupy the bulkhead rows (rows 1 and 9) in a 1-2-1 configuration. Only 8 seats per aircraft get the Studio treatment.
Key features:
- 25% larger than standard Polaris seats
- 27-inch 4K OLED touchscreen — largest seatback display on any U.S. airline
- Lie-flat bed with premium bedding
- Companion ottoman — 6 of 8 suites have a belted seat for dining together
- Wireless charging + Bluetooth connectivity
Note: Privacy doors are temporarily unavailable while awaiting certification. They’ll be added later.
Premium Amenities Included
Polaris Studio passengers get elevated service to match the seat:
- Osetra caviar amuse-bouche
- Hoodie-style pajamas and slippers
- Noise-canceling headphones (Meridian technology)
- Amenity kit with Perricone MD Cold Plasma Plus+ skincare
- United-branded playing cards
This is United trying to compete with the best international carriers on soft product, not just hardware.
Standard Polaris Also Gets Upgrades
Even if you don’t snag a Studio suite, the new aircraft has 56 standard Polaris suites with upgrades:
- 19-inch 4K OLED screens (up from previous displays)
- Two seat orientations — forward cabin faces away from aisle, rear cabin faces aisle
- Center dividers lower to bed height for couples
The aircraft offers 99 premium seats total — the highest proportion of any U.S. carrier.
How to Book with Miles
Polaris Studio and standard Polaris price the same in miles — there’s no separate award category (yet). Standard United business class award pricing applies:
United MileagePlus:
- SFO-SIN: ~85,000 miles one-way (saver)
- SFO-LHR: ~60,000 miles one-way (saver)
Partner options: Transfer points to United from Chase Ultimate Rewards (1:1) or use partner airlines like Air Canada Aeroplan for different pricing.
The catch: Award availability is extremely limited on new product launches. Use award flight search tools like seats.aero to set alerts, or check United.com daily.
Why This Matters for Points Collectors
Until now, United’s Polaris was solid but not exceptional. It was the “safe” U.S. carrier choice — not embarrassing, but not aspirational either.
Polaris Studio changes that. At just 8 suites per aircraft, it’s genuinely exclusive. The 27-inch screen, caviar service, and companion dining put it in conversation with the best international business class products.
For Chase Ultimate Rewards collectors (including Sapphire Reserve and Ink Business cardholders), this gives your points a compelling redemption target. United transfers 1:1 from Chase, making these suites accessible without needing to collect airline-specific miles.
Should You Book Now?
If you’re flexible on dates and want to try the new product, start checking availability now. First-mover demand will be high.
Best strategy:
- Search United.com for saver availability
- Be flexible on dates (weekdays tend to open first)
- Set alerts for your preferred dates
- Book immediately when space opens — it won’t last
The SFO-Singapore route is particularly interesting for connecting to Southeast Asia or Australia. SFO-London is a bread-and-butter transatlantic route with tons of onward connections.
The Bottom Line
United Polaris Studio represents the airline’s biggest premium cabin upgrade in years. At 8 suites per aircraft with no premium pricing for awards, this is a chase-worthy redemption.
If you’ve been hoarding United miles or Chase points, April 2026 just became a lot more interesting.
